The Mutzig Star Competition 2018 Kicks Off Without a Song from 2017 Winner, Monjoa Vanessa .

The Mutzig National song competition is certainly one of the oldest and most respected musical competitions in Cameroon which promotes young and rising talents. Started in 1990, it was later on renamed the Mutzig star in 2019. With an objective to promote Cameroonian uprising artists evolving in music to participate in the socio cultural development of the country, this event sponsored by Brasseries du Cameroun has been a complete success over the past years.

Never the less, the 2017 edition of the Mutzig star which was won by Buea-based talented artist Monjoa Vanessa was criticized by many for several reasons.
After winning this competition, Vanessa was to be given a sum of 1milion Fcfa, a brand new car and she was to record an album which was to be produced by Salatiel (who happened to be one of the judges) and sponsored by Brasseries du Cameroun.

Not ignoring the criticisms which came up with regards to the sum of money being offered by a multi-million company like Brasseries, followers of the competition started raising questions on Vanessa’s prizes as months passed without a word from Brasseries. Nonetheless, calm was restored when Vanessa took to her Facebook page to tell everyone that there is no foul play and she was going to get her prizes at the right time.

But today is definitely another story. After kicking off the 2018 edition of the Mutzig Star 2 weeks ago, more questions were been raised concerning Vanessa’s album which was to be produced by Salatiel.
Wasn’t the album supposed to be ready before this new edition of the competition? Followers of this event put out their worry.
